Flowers are blooming, the weather is warm, and southern Wisconsin is looking green at last. Many of us have been spending time at The Lake, working on our Century Challenges. What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring?

 

On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon, a group of assorted climbers headed out to Devil’s Lake to climb at Wiessner’s Wall. Located on the West Bluff near Cleo’s Amphitheater, Wiessner’s is an oft-overlooked buttress of moderate routes. We had a great time working out the technical moves on this slabby face, often with minimal feet, tiny crimps, and fist-jams. Because Wiessner’s Wall is near the top of the bluff, climbers are rewarded with terrific views of the lake and surrounding forest.
